Three Goals for Today

  1. That I'd stop praying that God would meet my needs, realize that he's already met them, and get on with it.
  2. That I'd stop holding so tight to my possessions, realize that they're not mine anyway, and freely give/loan/love.
  3. That I'd forget about finals - and give my undivided attention to celebrate my brother's birthday. Yeah!

This just in ... my brother Joe drained a 3-pointer against Springfield this morning. Watch the highlight clip.

Early this morning, I was reading someone's thoughts on the manna-thing in the wilderness. In the Bible book of Exodus, just before God informed the Israelites of the impending manna miracle, here's what happened in Exodus 16:4 "Then the Lord said to Moses, "Behold, I am about to rain bread from heaven for you, and the people shall go out and gather a day's portion every day, that I may test them, whether they will walk in my law or not."

The author's thought was that the greater test came when God met their needs day-after-day-after-day.

It's easy to trust God when He seems to show up now & then and bail us out. But to trust him each day when our basic needs (and tons of our wants) are met. Now that's tough. It's usually grumble time for me.
