The Absurd Gospel

I believe that Jesus -- both fully God and fully man -- lived, died, and rose again to restore our broken relationship with God. His message is love. He loves all ... the businessmen, the haters, the doubters, the prostitutes, the tax collectors, the adulturers, the lawyers, the homosexuals, the heterosexuals, the elderly, the blind, the able-bodied, the cripled, and especially the children.

The religious people annoyed him the most, but he even found room in his heart to love them too.

If Jesus Christ went through the bloody painful suffering on the cross only to establish a group of "nice" people with "nice" morals who dress "nice" and meet in "nice" buildings and try not to do "bad" things ... if that's true, then Gospel is absurd. Who would die for that?

But that's not the Gospel. It sounds more like this: "Come to me, all you who are burdened, and I will give you rest." Or, "I came so that you would have abundant life."

Now seeking: A community of people who love God and each other so much it's contagious.
